Damn, i've wanted to smoke all week but haven't had the time, but i'm sure I'll make up for it this weekend. I'll have to give some of the RP's a try because all the previous RP's i smoked weren't good, in fact, I had sworn off RP until now.

Which RP did you say you have?

Chris, if you're referring to me, I can't recall what I've smoked in the past from Rocky, and I don't have any in my humi now because I hadn't planned on ever smoking them again. I'll have to look into it, but I'm sure I'll get some at Cigarfest and i'll certainly give them a try.

Yep, I was referring to you. I keep forgetting about c-fest so I just assumed you had a few you were avoiding because of prior experience.

I dont know what you usually like but I've had good luck with the RP Vintage 90 and the Connecticut.

I only tried a couple of Rocky's cigars, but I can't recall what they were. I believe somewhere on this forum I talked about them, but that was quite a while ago. I might still have the bands saved at home, if so, i'll post it.

I'll have to give those a try, my problem with the RP's i tried were they had no resistence so it was like smoking an empty tube, way too much air flow. Plus, they were very bitter all the way through. Brian had the same problem with the same sticks but i'm hoping they're not all like that.

Mmmmmmmmmmm 85 degrees, partly cloudy and a little breeze. Perfect!

Just lit up an Ashton Classic... I'm usually not a fan of Dominican's but I like a lot of Fuente's stuff so I decided to give this one a shot. Its been sitting in the humi for a few weeks and burns really well. Ash has been holding at least an inch already and it tastes pretty good. First puffs while lighting it were extremely harsh though...

Despite my cold, I smoked two cigars yesterday:

CAO Lx2
La Aroma de Cuba

Hopefully I didn't mess up my throat more than it already is

You should have waited until Cigarfest Steve! I hope you're feeling up to partying.

So, how was the Lx2, i've been wanting to try that for a while now but haven't had a chance. I need to buy some soon.

I'll be fine Dave, so no worries there!
My throat actually feels great today, and I'm only coughing a little bit, so all of the cigar smoking tonight and tomorrow will be just fine. Last night was my test run

As far as the Lx2......AWESOME smoke. I've had a few now, and it's a great powerhouse full-bodied stick. I can't recall what I have left in my humi, but if there is an extra one left in there, it's all yours and I'll bring it tonight

Glad to hear it Steve, i'm looking forward to smoking and hanging out with you.

I look forward to trying it, but hold onto yours, I can probalby snag one from the CAO booth or I'll grab some on CI, Cbid, or my local shop. You've already been generous enough to give me an Oliva V Maduro, I don't want to take your Lx2 as well. Thank you though.

Well, how about this Dave....if I have two left in there, one is yours
That way, it's not like you're taking my last one

Ha, seriously, you've already paid me back by being a top contributor to this site, and for hanging out in Scranton at the parade. I had a blast.

Dang Patrick, look at you smoking all the good stuff! I wish it were easier for me to smoke during the work day. We have designated smoking areas that are full of cigarette smokers and I have to walk about 5 minutes across the campus to get there. Ughh.

If i could sit outside with my laptop and a few cigars I'd be in heaven... but I don't think the boss would appreciate much

Well my most recent order of NUbs is out for delivery and should hopefully be waiting when I get home... I think I'll let these rest for a few days/weeks and smoke an Oliva Serie G tonight

Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet... if you can find one they should be under $4 and I've been into them lately...

Or an Excalibur by Hoyo de Monterrey

I've had to order mine online, haven't seen them in the local B&Ms. I know they are related to Oliva somehow so maybe if your local shops carry Oliva/Nub you can ask them to order you Sol Cubanos?

The old man in our local B&M is willing to order a box of anything we ask for even if he knows we're just buying a few to taste them. Pretty cool but I hope for his sake others are buying them, too. Or he's smoking them!!

Well last night we "took the wives out" to the pub... which just means we left them inside with friends to dance and drink and gossip, and we found a quiet corner on the patio to light up

My NUbs havent come in yet (expected them yesterday....) but I'm going to give them time to rest anyway, so off to the B&M we went. On PatrickB's recommendation in another thread I picked up a Serie V Dbl Toro and on multiple brand recommendations (though I've never heard of this one specifically) I got a Tatuaje Cojuno 2003.

Oh... My... God... I started with a glass of scotch and the Tat 03. It was very spongy to the touch, even down to the cap - unlike anything i've felt before in a cigar. From the first light it was perfect. It burned wonderfully, had fantastic smoke, never needed touchups or relights. I couldnt compare what I tasted to anything else but I WILL be getting more of these... somehow, hopefully. And just for comparison, my friend was smoking an RP Edge Lite at the time - since we're both noobs we tend to taste each other's cigars just to see whats what. He absolutely loved the Tat from the first puff. While I'm sure the RP Edge may be a good smoke, it was taking so much away from the fantastic flavor I had in my mouth from the Tat - I took one puff and gave it back to him.

We took a break, had a snack and some more booze, then it was time for my Serie V. I'm not usually a fan of full bodied cigars but I love Oliva's and there have been a few fuller ones I liked so I figured this was worth a shot. I'm glad I tried it - in one stick it has already become my favorite Oliva. If I could say anything it'd be that the draw was kinda tight and the stick was pretty fat. Obviously being NUbbers we're used to smoking 60 guages but I think 6 inches is too long for a 60. I also think a skinnier one would have drawn a little better. I'll be getting more of these as well

Great story chrish, sounds like you had a good time. I have a bid in at cbid for an Oliva sampler, hope I win it, I have only had 1 Oliva to date, and I don't for the life of me remember which, so I figured I would try to pick up a sampler.
