Default Floods

Well we were flooded out today. We received 11 inches of rain in a 24 hour period. The river rose up so fast we were told to evacuate as the river came within 100 ft of our house. We are spending the night in a hotel because we couldn't get to our house. I'll see tomorrow what damage was done.

well the good news is the water never entered the house. The bad news is it totally flooded our basement and we will need to replace the water pump and our furnace. I also lost about 100 cigar.

Sorry to hear that George. It sounds like you lost some crucial items, but no lives were lost and minimal damage was done, all things considered.

I forgot to mention my man cave was a disaster. The water got up to 6 inches. I had to pull up the carpet, throw out all the furniture, wipe down the walls and everything else that had mud on it. Mud, the worse. There was an inch of mud on the floor and it smelled bad. Oh well and life goes on.

George, take care, often that mud contains all sorts of biological nasties... Use gloves, throw them out when you are done, wash often, use a respirator... use PLENTY of bleach...
During floods often times sewerage is mixed in...

Thanks Skipper, I am already doing all that except the respirator. Wish I had thought of that.
