Default Cain F Maduro Studio Tobac Sampler 2012- Review

Will start off by saying this is the second Cain F Maduro I have had from this tour. The first one I had ate something that made it where I couldn’t even taste the cigar. So of course I did not review it. The first one I had was absolutely perfect draw and burn, no issues at all. I wanted that to be known up front.

Overall : 10/10
Size : 5x50
Release : Studio Tobac Sampler 2012
Burn Time : 1.5 hours
Cut : Xikar V Cutter, Then Straight Cut
Lit With : Cain Daytona Lighter
Burn : Had to correct more time than I care to
Draw : Draw was tight
Ash : Fell about 1 inch or so
Drink : Bottle Water
Temp : 73ish
Pros : It’s a Cain F and a Maduro wrapper, whets not to like?
Cons : Honestly, burn and draw was all, but again didn’t have this issue with first one

So here goes

Start 1/3: Predraw had a nice smooth flavor, I always love the predraw of the Cains, half the time I honestly don’t even want to light them they are so tasty. This one with the Maduro wrapper left my lips with spiciness, I have actually heard this from others who have reviewed this stick. I would say if I were guessing on predraw flavors an almost a dried fruity, maybe prune with chocolate mix. Again guessing on that. So I lit it up, and immediately noticed a terrible draw, so re cut the v cut with a straight cut and that opened it up more. Flavor wise throughout first third was a spicy leather flavors.

Start 2/3: Into the second third, the spiciness is still there with what seems like a hint of sweet but just a hint. There is also a cedary woody flavor that I really enjoy in all the Cain cigars. This same profile continued on through to the third third.

Start 3/3: I would say this cigar carried on the same profile from the second third on but picked up a little sweeter, leathery flavor, which was welcomed a lot. I really enjoyed that in the last third. I wish the entire cigar would carry more of that profile.

End : Outstanding Cigar, ended with about few inches left, got too hot for me. This cigar is awesome I would expect nothing less from my boys at Studio Tobac. As everyone who knows me my favorite cigar is the Cain F 550, so you take the F and add a Maduro wrapper to it, can’t ask for anything else, well I will ask for something, make it production cigar. I would also be curious to retest this in a bout 6-8 month and then again in a year or so, I can only imagine that the Maduro will age fantastically. I can’t wait.

Overall 10/10: I know most of you will say you always rate Oliva/Studio Tobac products high, well in my book these guys make high ranking cigars. I am an Oliva/ST guy, and I am hardly ever disappointed by anything they put out. I only had the burn and the draw issue with this cigar, but this was a non issue with the first one I had, and doubt it will be a problem with the next. I will say I have grown to love that I get almost perfection from Oliva/Studio Tobac every time I smoke their stuff, so I end up expecting it, and I would say 99% of the time that’s what I get!
Bottom line I loved this cigar, and it lived up to what I expect form Studio Tobac. Keep up the good work guys.
