Default Cigar and Drink Pairings

Hey All,
I've seen some mention of some adult beverages on several of the other threads, but thought I would open one up purely to see what everyone's favorites are with each of the Nub lines. Here's my thoughts:

Connie - as this seems to be the mildest of the line I usually try to pair it with something that won't cloud or override the flavors of the cigar. I usually smoke a Connie in the morning or in the earlier parts of the day so I'll either have a coffee (not the super strong espresso or Spanish coffee I usually drink), latte or lemon water with it.

Cameroon - I've got less experience with this one than the other two but usually smoke these on the weekends, late afternoons and will pair it with a beer. Usually a pale ale or maybe a mojito....something that has a little kick but doesn't take away from the cigar.

Habano - Now's here my girl! She usually holds the position as the "go to smoke" and usually gets the prime position as the "after dinner apertif". With the Habano I usually have a heavier beer (partial to Guiness, and most of the darks), a Kentucky Bourbon (usually Blanton's, Woodford Reserve or Maker's Mark), Glenlivet 12 year, a heavy Cuban coffee or espresso or (my favorite Irish whiskeys) Jameson's or Bushmills (yeah...they're blends...get off my back). The Habano has the flavor and spice punch and the strong finish that isn't overridden by a hearty drink....in fact I think it's complimented by it (or I'm just drunk enough to imagine it is).

I've found that I can't drink carbonated beverages with any cigars...the sugars and tastes just don't mix well with the smokes, IMHO.

Well, those are some of my pairings. What do you guys drink with your Nubs?

(OK Maverick...this is where you list a bunch of top shelf stuff that I've never had and can't afford....but I'll be taking notes and when I win the lottery...)

haha, well, first of all, kudos to you for starting one of the best threads on the forum, and for your suggested pairings that hold equal value to me as any of my preferred Scotch. Oh, and by the way, I too enjoy Jameson and Bushmills. To be honest, I haven't tried pairing mine up very often, and when I have, I can't say as much thought went into it as you, so I will hold off on any input until I can try a few things. I have posted my Scotch pairings, but I know there are better beverages to go with each cigar, that's just what I've happened to pour at the time. Give me a week or two and I'll let you know what i've tried, and I'll try out some of your suggestions.

I hate pale ales, I try half a dozen a year, and I never like them for some reason, until I have one with a cigar, somehow the harshness just gets taken away.

Great....now a professional's gonna contribute and my pairings are going to look like a Swisher Sweet and Mad Dog 20/20. (Don't laugh...I've done it!)

if you like coffee with your gar, try Patron Cafe.
This stuff is magic.

You can usually find it for under $30

It is, and it ROCKS!
Tell you what, if it was over $50 per bottle I would still keep it on hand.
At $25-$30 per bottle, I keep one in my locker at my cigar club, and 2 or 3 at home.

Every time Tonto buys a bottle, his wife polishes it off over ice cream

It is good stuff. The first time I tried it was a couple years ago, and I liked it so much I brought a bottle to a house warming party and drank half of it there. Now that was a good time!
