I had a bottle of Macallans Cask Strength. WOW! Just needs a little more water that usual, but what a smooth drink.

how much water do you typically add to say a shot?

well, I never drink by the shot. In a rock glass, it's around an inch or 2 deep. I add around 1/2 to a full teaspoon.
I doubled that for this cask strength.

Adding the water enhances the flavor of the scotch. The term is it opens it up.

Nope, I just say "whisky, single malt, neat and a glass of water" (never trust a bartender to add the water)
They will usually ask what brand you want, then you have a conversation. Tell them your preference and most wont have a clue. For instance if you say highland or speyside, they will start reading the labels. So ask what they have, find your pleasure and tell them what to do. Most bartenders can mix a mean lime-cricket-goober shot or whatever today's fancy disgusting popular mixed drink the kids are drinking... but dont know squat about the finner spirits.

glenlivet 12 yr on the rocks - or 1 big rock - with a splash of water.

I have a bit more 18yr left but am saving it for a special occasion...

I bought the 2 inch ice cube trays and I am using one cube now...just one GIANT cube is enough...

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is always on hand, and cold.
Captain Morgan Private stock wasn't bad to sip on resently.
Jagermeister can get me into trouble on occasion.

I'll have to review the scotch suggestions and give some a try.

Just poured some Knob Creek Single Barrel. Not a fan of regular Knob, but love the SB.
