Yep... Squid® has gathered up enough NUb cigar bands to do a Zippo... And what was my first thought? A CONTEST!!! <G>
I'll be posting the details later, in this thread, but I'm short on time at the moment. Just wanted to let y'all know about it, in case anybody might be interested...
Details are in post #10... Please note that if I had more NUb bands, I would gladly create & give away more NUb lighters... <G>
Thanks,
-Squid®

I am most sorry for the delay... Squid® has decided to make this contest based on your experiences with sharing... Have you ever gifted a NUb to another person? If so, you are eligible for this contest. Please tell us the most positive response you've gotten from a person to whom you've given a NUb stick. Extra points if the little story is entertaining and/or humourous.
The deadline for submission is 11:59PM on April 26th. The winner of this one-of-a-kind (not to mention the first) NUb Zippo by SquidWorks® will be announced the next day.
Any questions, please post them in this thread.
Thanks,
-Squid®

Thanks for the contest Squid!
I gifted a NUb to Habana(Flint). I got a PM that said, "You Dog!". That evening I noticed a post that he was smoking something else so I PMd him. He said he wanted to let in rest and even his wife couldn't believe he wasn't smoking it and shook her head.

I think you should give it to Ian (bengalfan).
he gifted Mtmouse, deuce, and myself the prototype nubs out of his own stash.
I will never forget that evening. that was very memorable for all of us and he deserves it.
That was also the first and only nub i've ever smoked.

You could always beg one from somebody, and then give it away and tell a nice story about that... <G>

I got 2 Nubs the other day and couldn't wait to smoke them. I dropped by a friends house for the sacrificial burning, one for me and one for him. All was well from prelight to the nub. That is until I tried to make the Nub stand. I sat mine up on the edge of the ash tray for a pic and before I could grab the camera it fell over and made a mess on the poker table. His wife wasn't happy when she had to recover the felt before the next game! HAW! <G> Sorry, I stole your line Squid.

(grin) oh have I got a story for you!!!!
The hunnie has been in a crappy mood for a month due to difficulties at work. Crappy moods translate to no horizontal mambo. No lovin' makes Steffy a very unhappy (and horny) girl. So when my daily cigar.com email dazzled me with the introduction of the Nub cigars, I thought it was a gift from heaven!
That Friday, I went to Wholefoods and brought a lovely steak. I uncorked a nice bottle of red and grilled the steak, timing it just right so that it was all ready as he stepped through the door. Upon his demolition of the steak, I presented him with a Nub Cameroon 358.
At first he thought the shape was funny and doubted my claims that it’ll be awesome. So I bet him that if it ends up being a good smoke, he’ll have to give me some serious lovin’ that night.
Needless to say, Steffy was a VERY happy girl that night!

So the other day I went down to one of my local shops for a smoke and the owner asked me if there was anything new that I'd been smoking that was good. The first thing out of my mouth was the Nub! He asked about some specifics and said that he's waiting on the rep to get him a sample, but hasn't gotten anything yet. He said he doesn't want to order any without trying a few first. Granted there are zero Nub carriers in my area so I ordered a sampler from an online retailer. Well they came in Saturday and I went back today with a Cameroon 464T and a Habano 464T for him to try. After talking about his taste preferences I suggested him to start with the Cameroon and he did. While he was smoking 6 or 7 customers came in and imediately asked about his smoke and the other on the table. Before you know it we were all sitting around talking about Nubs and cigars in general and the shop owner was pinching the nub of the Nub trying to get the last little bit out of it before putting it down. Nobody had any question if he liked it or not as there was almost nothing left when he put it down. It looks like my area might finally have a B&M to carry the Nubs!

Heh... I usually run contests along the lines of a lottery or guessing game, (Guess the date of my millionth post for instance) where there's a single correct answer. This one was a "judgement call contest" which I generally don't do as it might be perceived as not totally fairly thought out by everybody reading the thread. Truly, I did my best to be fair, and made the call based on how I felt about the story.
Now according to my best calculations, I'll be receiving a supply of NUb bands from somebody who has a whole bunch of them, so there'll be plenty-o-contests with a NUb Zippo as the prize in the near future. <G>

But what happened to Squid®? ;)
That minor part of my personality was trying to take over... Instead of becoming some sort of demented Dr Strangelove-Squid, I decided to put it firmly in it's place... Squid is far too arrogant, abusive, self-centered and short-tempered to really represent what I am like in real life. I'll keep the name, but the "old squid" needs to go back to the depths of the southern Pacific to rest in peace...
<G>
(I wonder if any CigarLivers will end up reading this? I'd prefer to keep it low-key if possible...)
-Thanks
