Every now and again you find yourself in the right place at the right time without planning.
For instance, today I wanted to take advantage of this magnificent weather we are having here in NY. Mid 80's, sunny, light wind, low humidity. So I grabbed a subway sandwich and walked to batter park. I looked up and this is what I saw

The SS New York, made from 17.5 tons of steel of the fallen WTC, passing in front of the Statue of Liberty. I could not have planned this.
Unfortunately my camera was set to macro and she was around a mile away...

Anyway, post your fortuitous moments taken with your cell phone. From time to time when one strikes me I'll send you a couple of nubs!

I had just read this thread and was thinking what could I take a picture of. As I watch the thunderbirds fly over the Air Force Graduation!!!! This was all I got because I was too busy trying to think of where I could get a good pic. This was as they were leaving. Ya I Failed!!! I Left the pic big so you can see the plane.

Thanks, I had tried to get it earlier but only in the last day or two did the humming birds start fighting over the feeders. Before the NUB stands would just scare them away and they would not come around. I don't know what happened but suddenly there are 5 and 6 birds on the feeder most all the time and they are constantly fighting over it. They pretty much ignored the NUB and maybe even saw it as a competitor needing to be scared away.
When I saw the way the birds were fighting over the feeders I thought I would try one more time and they obliged, but of course, the contest had ended. STUPID BIRDS! And I know they are stupid since all the do is hum. They don't even know the words. :rolleyes:

I just remembered a fortuitous shot I took in 2004. We were outside of Richmond VA near the Chesterfield County Airport when we saw our first "wild" bald eagle and were taking shots of it. When we got home we found that in a shot where the bird was flying away from us it looks like it was flying right at a plane, either a very small plane or a very large eagle. You gotta love scale differences when it works out just right.
